Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is an autosomal dominant genetic condition that causes tumorigenicity of bilateral vestibular schwannomas. microRNAs (miRNA) are 22-25 nucleotides single-stranded class of non-coding RNAs that play an essential role in mRNA regulation, mostly negatively, in many human diseases, like cancer. They are able to augment tumorigenicity (as oncomirs) or suppress the process (as tsmiRNAs). Recent studies have elucidated their multifaceted role in transcriptomics of signaling pathways that lead to establishment, development, and invasiveness of tumors. Dysregulated expression level of miRNAs has been reported in various malignancies, as well. In the present review, we aimed to summarize the role of miRNAs in NF2 tumor homing and progression and address their potential in the patients diagnosis, management, and treatment.

In recent studies, the focus on zebrafish, as a suitable laboratory model for studying vertebrate gene function, has increased dramatically. We evaluated the similarity between the three genes KLF2, MSX1 and SOX9 in humans and zebrafish. The KLF2 gene plays a role in heart and immunity of humans and zebrafish. In zebrafish, KLF2 gene is involved in immunogenesis and angiogenesis. This gene can increase the expression of thrombomodulin and endothelial nitric oxide synthase for human angiogenesis and vascular volume modulation. Zebrafish and human MSX genes are involved in the development of the ethmoid plate and are expressed in the neural crest and pre-placodal ectoderm. In zebrafish and humans, members of the SOX family play an important role in embryogenesis and sex determination. Therefore, understanding the relationship between zebrafish and human genes is important for effective modeling of human genetic diseases.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are one of the promising cellular therapies for immune-related diseases. Preconditioning of MSCs increases their efficacy and overcomes several hurdles in MSC-based therapies. It reduces tissue inflammation and improves cell survival, consequently enhancing therapeutic outcomes. Evaluating some proteins may elucidate the probable behavior of transplanted cells in cellular therapies. Improving the number of immunomodulatory factors like Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), and Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-Stimulated Gene-6 (TSG-6) could be fundamental to modulate the immune system in immune-related disorders. In the current study, human Bone Marrow-derived clonal MSCs (hBM-cMSCs) were preconditioned with different regimens, especially Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) to evaluate the effects of these regimens on the desired protein expression patterns to pave the way for clinical applications of MSCs according to their protein production potentials and enhance their therapeutic potential.

In this study, thermal stability and pH for the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of ciplukan (Physalis angulata Linn) herbs had been studied. Among the antioxidant activity methods, the use of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) reagent is simple and easy to use. The thermal effect was observed by warming the sample at 50, 70, and 100 °C in intervals of 30, 45, and 60 min. The results showed that the half-maximal Inhibitory Concentration (IC50) of the extract was 185.53+1.35, which was classified as medium. Based on these results, a significant decrease was observed at 100 °C and pH=8. Thus, the pKa of the extract is recommended for maintaining stability at a pKa value of 3.83, which is proven to maintain a spot in the pH range of 4.

KEL1 (Kell or K) is highly immunogenic with limited distribution while KEL2 (Cellano or k) antigen is more prevalent. The antigenic diversity in the Kell gene is a result of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs). Blood samples of 160 males and females from each ethnic group with no age restrictions were subjected to Tetra-ARMS PCR to genotype the SNP (C578T) on exon 6 of chromosome 7. Genotype and allele frequencies were estimated in correlation with gender, age, and ethnicity with p-value less than 0.05. In general, antigen KEL2 k was more prevalent than antigen KEL1 k.

Our study was designed to evaluate any changes in the liver, kidney, and brain tissues of female wistar rats to a fructose-enriched diet. Rats were divided into three groups (n=5/group). Monitoring of daily water-food consumption and clinical changes continued for 90 days. Afterward, the alteration of biochemical, necropsy, and histopathological parameters was assessed on day 91. Increased brain weights, presence of eosinophilic neurons, gliosis, and cerebral congestion were recorded. Also, the decrease in total and non-conjugated serum bilirubin levels, increase in serum glucose level, liver vacuolar degeneration, and single-cell necrosis were shown that obtained results indicated signs of toxicity in the neural tissue of rats.
